Replacing Characters with Numerical Entities


Procedure

  1. Choose input and output files. See Force ANSI / Remove BOM.
  2. Select the Replace control.
  3. Select the Chars control.
  4. Select either:
    • The Dec control.
      •     or
    • The Hex control.
  5. Select either:
    • The All control.
      •     or
    • Individual character controls.
  6. Select either:
    • The Text control.
      •     or
    • The HTML control.
  7. Optionally,
    • Select an output format - DOS or UNIX. By default, the output file will be DOS formatted.
  8. Click OK to create the output file.




For example, if an input file contains the following lines:



and the Replace, All, Chars, Dec, HTML options are chosen, the output file will contain:



Note
When the All control is selected, all of the characters that have an ASCII value greater than 127 will be replaced, not only those visibly selected by this control.
